Carlton N. Middleton was born in Alexandria, Virginia on October 27, 1956. Carlton N. The homeless are destroying parts of my district. They are fighting, hitting, attacking and yelling at the owners of the property when they are caught trespassing and they are asked to leave. Remember, I have already said this, "because the homeless have no space of their own, any place they are is "owned" my someone else." The homeless are urinating and defecating in the doorways of the owner's property. That means that the owners, managers, or someone else, needs to get out at about 4:00 AM and hose down the property with hot water and bleach!!! Cleaning from the night before!!! That is before the businesses can begin their day.

I need to go to the capitol and get more “affordable” housing for the homeless. So that they will not be on the streets or in the doorway of these businesses!!! I need to get the homeless housed. It is not illegal to be homeless in the State of Hawaii. This is not a police problem it is a political problem and I can fix it. There is not enough “affordable” housing. There is a problem because if the homeless get arrested and are sent to jail, that "cell" becomes their home. Looks like that is exactly what the some homeless want. Also the city or state must legally give them three (3) hot meals, toilets and showers with hot water, everyday. The city or state must legally "house" them. That is the law!!! This is very expensive for this state. It would be cheaper to pay for more "affordable" housing!!! As I have said, "think of it is an investment. It will pay for itself in making more tourist come to Hawaii because Hawaii will be more attractive"!!!

I spent the better part of my day walking my district listening to complaints about how bad this past Friday-night was for the owners of the business property. These businesses need my help. And I shall help them. These housing problems are getting worse, and more costly.

A month ago, the Hawaii council of revenues put the lost in tourism for the State Of Hawaii at a staggering $151 Million Dollar loss, for the first six (6) months of this year and that loss is growing by the day!!! The biggest lost is in the state's tourist-hub, Waikiki!!!

Again, this is not a third world country war-zone and these homeless are "not" refugees from any war. This is the State of Hawaii.

But remember, this is a job I am asking for. I like helping people. I will get this job done, too. Just like I do every month as a member of the Downtown Neighborhood Board. Starting on day one!!! Promise!!!
